Što je kalaj?

Tinplate refers to a steel plate with a thin layer of metallic tinplated on the surface. Tinplate is a low carbon steel rolled into a steel plate with a thickness of about 2mm, after pickling, cold rolling, electrolytic cleaning and annealing, leveling, trimming, and then cleaning, electroplating, reflow, passivation, and oiling, and then cut into finished products of tinplated sheet. The tin used for tinplated sheet is high-purity tin (Sn>99,8 posto).

Sloj kositra se također može obložiti vrućim potapanjem. Limeni sloj limene ploče dobiven ovom metodom je deblji, a količina upotrijebljenog kositra je velika, te nakon kalajiranja nije potrebna obrada pročišćavanjem.
